Lead Service Lines in Public Water System

The Village of Albany will be assisting our residents with inspecting utility water service pipes from the water main into their residence. The effort is to identify any lead pipes in water service leading into their homes. A survey will need to be completed for every water connection to the Village of Albany Public Water Systems (PWS) by 29 Sep 2024.

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) has established this requirement to perform a complete inventory of all PWS that provide water to public. The Village of Albany has received a Grant through IEPA to assist with this effort and will also need residents to either let us inspect or complete the survey themselves. A simple test will be provided to determine what type of water line is in use. When completed this inventory will be submitted to IEPA and a plan will be developed to replace any lead lines that are located.
